Globalization marked contemporary society creating addiction and estrangement from natural resources, often endangered from climate changes, namely in areas of weak and unstable ecosystems. Those changes had devastating consequences over villages where environmental resources are strictly linked to life and growth of communiites.
Our intervention areas, before the dryness, were considered as Casamance’s granary. Rice and fruit fields used to be high productive, but nowadays, climate conditions seem to stand for a slow desertification and erosion process that already destroyed thousands of croplands, causing alimentary problems to families. Unfortunately, those effects also fall on economy. Once affected primary resources such as agriculture, families and economic balance are affected too, even creating problems on the purchase of medicals. Considering that, climate change plays an important role in development and sustenance of areas directly depending on environment. Preservation and valorizing natural resources are determining features for community’s wealth and the safeguard of its animals and plant life.
We strongly believe in the bond between man and environment, using that as a way to hold responsibilities on children, considering them our tomorrow leaders and put attention on the safeguard of nature, by giving accessible and actual visions of causes and consequences of climate change reflecting on nature and society. It practically means to build up bases for a sustainable development of the territory and the planet, preserving its environmental richness and the intimate bond between communities and agricultural process.
